4 Shot at Howe Park Sacramento - Large Unauthorized Party Results in Shooting
Saturday night, an unauthorized gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals at the Howe Park area in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade neighborhood became the scene of a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots echoed through the area as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were working to clearing the crowd.
How Events Unfolded
Shortly after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff was alerted about individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park. Another caller mentioned a possible physical altercation and individuals fleeing the scene.
A sheriff's helicopter was dispatched and surveyed the area from above but did not locate any physical confrontation.
Nonetheless, a large crowd had congregated at Howe Park for what law enforcement classified as an unsanctioned event. Deputies set up around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave over loudspeakers.
As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds were discharged — sending the crowd scattering in all directions.
Shooting Victims
Four shooting victims — a female and three male victims, all in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. The Investigation Scene
